Built in 1987 and extensively refurbished during the winter of 1997, the modern low rise Aparthotel Rio Mar has a total of 120 guest rooms, including 56 one bedroom self catering apartments and a further 64 studio flats, which are built over 4 floors and set amidst almost 4,000m2 of Mediterranean style gardens and sun terraces around a large central pool area.

All guest rooms at the hotel are either air conditioned or centrally heated according to the season, and come equipped with a modern fully fitted "en suite" bathroom with shower, along with an open plan kitchenette with 2 electric cooking rings, refrigerator and microwave oven, a combined lounge/dining room with additional sofa beds, direct dial telephone, satellite television, safety deposit box available for hire and either a balcony or terrace, many of which have exterior views over the pool and garden area. In addition to the above features, a maid service is also provided, undertaking a change of towels as required and change of bed linen once a week.

Guest facilities on offer includes a 24 hour reception area with currency exchange services and both luggage and courtesy rooms for late departures, along with an air conditioned buffet style restaurant and snack bar, offering a choice of traditional Spanish, international and vegetarian menus, as well as a games room, public internet terminals, laundry and medical services, and both lounge and pool bars.

Sporting and leisure facilities available to guests includes a large outdoor freshwater swimming pool for adults, with separate children's section, and spacious sun terraces and gardens which are furnished with loungers and parasols. Other leisure facilities include a children’s playground, squash and tennis courts, and both pool and table tennis tables.

The Aparthotel Rio Mar also provides a seasonal programme of daytime sporting activities, organised each day by their resident animation team, featuring boules, water polo and aerobics, as well as evening entertainment with a children's mini disco which is then followed by either live music, cabaret or other professional shows several times each week.
