Built in 1988 and extensively refurbished during the winter of 2004, the modern Hipocampo Playa Apartments complex has a total of 79 guest rooms, including 65 one bedroom self catering apartments and a further 12 studio flats, which are built over 6 floors, and set amidst almost 1,000m2 of Mediterranean style gardens and sun terraces, around a large central pool area overlooking the sea.

All guest rooms are either air conditioned or centrally heated according to the season, and come equipped with a fully fitted "en suite" bathroom with shower and hairdryer, along with an open plan kitchenette with electric cooking rings, refrigerator, kettle, toaster and microwave oven, a combined lounge/dining room with additional sofa beds, direct dial telephone, satellite television, safety deposit box available for rental, double-glazed windows and either a terrace or balcony, most of which have exterior views over the garden and pool area towards the sea. In addition to the above features, a daily maid service is also provided, undertaking a change of towels as required, and change of bed linen twice a week.

Guest facilities on offer includes a 24 hour reception area with currency exchange services, and both luggage and courtesy rooms for late departures, along with an air conditioned buffet style restaurant and snack bar, offering a choice of traditional Spanish, international and vegetarian menus, as well as a games room, public internet terminals, laundry and medical services, and both lounge and pool bars.

Sporting and leisure facilities available to guests includes a large outdoor freshwater swimming pool for adults, with a separate smaller children's splash pool, and spacious sun terraces and gardens which are furnished with loungers and parasols. Other leisure facilities includes a smaller indoor heated swimming pool, as well as both pool and table tennis tables.

Guests staying at the Hipocampo Playa Apartments, are also welcome to relax and unwind at the nearby Hotel Hipocampo Playa Health and Beauty Centre, which features a smaller indoor heated pool with cardiovascular gymnasium, sauna and Jacuzzi, as well as offering a variety of other cosmetic and massage treatments.

The Hotel Hipocampo Playa also provides a seasonal programme of daytime sporting activities, organised each day by their resident animation team, featuring boules, water polo and aerobics, as well as evening entertainment with a children's mini disco which is then followed by either live music, cabaret or other professional shows several times each week.

In recognition of the Hipotels group high standards of customer care and management systems, the Hipocampo Playa Apartments has been awarded the internationally renowned certification of ISO 9001:2000 Certificate for Quality, as well as ISO 14001:2004 certification awarded for the achievement of the highest standards in environmental management procedures.
