Built in 1973 and extensively refurbished during the winter of 2005, the modern low rise Hotel Cala Esmeralda has a total of 151 guest rooms, including 131 standard twin rooms and a further 20 singles, which are built over 4 floors and set amidst almost 6,000m2 of Mediterranean style gardens and sun terraces, around a large central pool area overlooking the sea.

All guest rooms at the hotel are either air conditioned or centrally heated according to the season and come equipped with a fully fitted "en suite" bathroom with shower and hairdryer, along with a direct dial telephone, satellite television with music channels, mini-bar, safety deposit box available for rental and either a balcony or terrace, most of which have exterior views over the pool and garden area towards the sea. In addition to the above features, a maid service is also provided undertaking a change of towels as required, and change of bed linen twice a week.

Guest facilities on offer includes a 24 hour reception area with currency exchange services, and both luggage and courtesy rooms with showers for late departures, along with public internet terminals with complimentary WiFi access available in many common areas, a games room, an air conditioned buffet style restaurant and snack bar, offering a choice of traditional Spanish, international and vegetarian menus, laundry and medical services and both lounge and pool bars.

For business guests, the Hotel Cala Esmeralda also offers the use of a large air conditioned conference and meeting room, which comes equipped with a selection of modern audiovisual equipment.

Sporting and leisure facilities available to guests include a choice of two large outdoor freshwater swimming pools for adults, including an impressive cliff top lagoon-style pool with views over the Cala Esmeralda cove. Both swimming pools are then surrounded by spacious sun terraces and gardens which are furnished with parasols and sun loungers.

Guests staying at the Hotel Cala Esmeralda are also welcome to use the sporting and leisure facilities shared between the Aparthotel Esmeralda Park, Aparthotel Cala Azul Park and Aparthotel Cala Azul Garden which includes a children's playground and mini club, along with a smaller indoor heated swimming pool with cardiovascular gymnasium, sauna and Jacuzzi, as well as a mini-golf course and hard surface tennis court.

The Aparthotel Esmeralda Park also provides a seasonal programme of daytime sporting activities, organised each day by their resident animation team, which includes regular rifle and pistol shooting, darts, water polo, petanque on the beach and weekly tennis and beach volleyball tournaments, as well as a programme of evening entertainment with a children's mini disco which is then followed by either live music cabaret or other professional shows several times each week.
