Built in 1974 and extensively renovated during the winter of 2002, the modern Hotel Barcelo Ponent Playa has a total of 430 guest rooms, including 388 double rooms and a further 42 singles, which are distributed between two 7 storey buildings and set amidst 2,000m2 of Mediterranean style gardens and sun terraces around a central pool area.

All guest rooms at the hotel are either air conditioned or centrally heated according to the season and come equipped with a fully fitted bathroom with shower, along with a direct dial telephone, satellite television, safety deposit box available for rental and either a balcony or terrace, most of which have exterior views over either the pool and garden area or magnificent Cala Ferrera beach. In addition to the above, a maid service is also provided undertaking a change of towels as required and change of bed linen once a week.

Guest facilities on offer include a 24 hour reception area with currency exchange services, along with a games room, air conditioned buffet style restaurant and snack bar, luggage and courtesy rooms for late departures, laundry and medical services and both lounge and pool bars.

Sporting and leisure facilities available to guests include a large outdoor freshwater swimming pool with separate children's pool, and spacious sun terraces furnished with loungers and parasols. Other leisure facilities include a smaller indoor heated pool with sauna, Turkish bath and gymnasium as well as a children's mini club and adventure playground that is equipped with structures such as a tower, jungle gym, swing, slide, seesaw and spring rider.

The Hotel Ponent Playa also provides a seasonal programme of daytime sporting activities, organised each day by their resident animation team, featuring rifle shooting, water polo and aerobics, as well as evening entertainment with a children's mini disco which is then followed by either live music, cabaret or other professional shows several times each week.

In recognition of the Barcelo Group's high standards of customer satisfaction, the Hotel Ponent Playa has been awarded the Spanish Tourism Quality Institute ´Q´ quality mark which is only granted to establishments which meet the highest standards of continuous improvement in all services.
